Suzy Forel

I live and work in Berlin. I build my pictures from paper, acrylic, ink and magazine cuttings. My little time travellers appear among Berlin buildings, sometimes with a UFO hovering above them.

In my recent work I tear the paper by hand. It began with the tissue paper from my shoe boxes. I did not want to throw it away, so it ended up in the next picture.

Time is the real material in my work. Past and future sit beside each other in my collages. Since 2021 I have shown my work in Berlin and other cities, including Hamburg, Worms and Zurich.

I also work beyond the canvas. For the musical “Wir sind am Leben” at Theater des Westens, I knitted and painted sweaters by hand. At my exhibitions, the time travellers appear as life-size figures among the guests.

At my own exhibitions I raise money for Kinderträume, a charity for children with life-threatening illnesses. A recent auction raised 1,300 euros.
