Live Performance

In my performances, the figures leave the canvas. They enter the room and make time physically tangible.

The time travellers step out

At many of my exhibitions, the time travellers appear life-size. Wearing long coats and woven hats, they stand among the guests. They do not speak and move slowly through the room.

The motif becomes an immediate encounter. The figures change how the room feels and how we perceive the time we spend in it.

They step straight out of the collage and into the room.

Toilet Talks

Ku'damm · Bunker West · Berlin

The idea began at an exhibition in a Berlin club. Art was everywhere except in the bathrooms, the very place where the night's most candid conversations happen.

For Toilet Talks, I re-enacted these situations with friends. There are no secret recordings, only familiar lines, voices, a flushing toilet and everything that belongs to this place. The eight-minute sound work plays on a loop.

On Ku'damm, visitors queued to get in. One woman came up to me and whispered:

“I think someone forgot their phone down there.”
